Primetals Technologies has introduced its patented Advanced Roller Guides, a next-generation monitoring and control solution for rod and bar mills, building on the legacy of Morgan and Ashlow guide technology. The new system combines a robust mechanical design with smart sensing to enhance safety, reliability, and overall mill performance.
The guides address common issues such as misalignment, cobbles, and unplanned downtime by digitizing key functions, including section height measurement, guide alignment, roller and bearing condition, speed monitoring, and impact analysis. With wireless communication, operators can remotely monitor and adjust guide settings, eliminating manual height checks and reducing exposure to hazardous areas.
Advanced Roller Guides provide continuous tracking, predictive wear detection, and internal diagnostics to support consistent, optimized mill operation. They can function as standalone units or integrate with plant-wide digital systems. Available in multiple sizes, they fit standard mounting saddles without modifications.
