PT Bahagia Steel, an Indonesian producer of round bar and rebar based in Surabaya, has placed its first order with SMS group for a twin-strand high-speed delivery (HSD) rebar production line for its Kampung Wringinanom site. The plant is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The company is investing in the greenfield rebar line to improve production efficiency and meet rising demand for high-quality construction steel driven by expanding infrastructure projects in Indonesia. The new line will produce rebars with diameters ranging from 5.2 mm to 32 mm, with rolling speeds of up to 45 meters per second.
SMS group will supply the mechanical equipment and automation systems, including a high-speed shear ahead of the finishing block, a waterbox cooling system, and the twin-strand HSD line designed for high productivity.
The system enables precise bar counting and improved process control while reducing short bars during multistrand rolling, helping increase material yield by around 2pct and enhancing overall production efficiency.
