QS Maritime, operator of Oman’s Shinas Port, will begin development work by year-end, with investments exceeding USD 199 mln. The project is expected to take 5-7 years to complete.
CEO Eng. Abdul Baqi al Kindi told the Oman News Agency that a specialized contractor will be appointed for the port and marine works. Phase one includes expanding the port basin southward and building a new northern breakwater to accommodate larger vessels and boost efficiency.
The port area has been expanded to 1.8 mln sqm to support upcoming projects, including fuel storage tanks, factories, and warehouses for both re-export and local use.
A new sea route to Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port will launch in Q4 2025, with two weekly ferry trips carrying up to 200 passengers and vehicles. The passenger terminal is ready, with final security checks underway. Cargo throughput has surpassed 186,000 tons, exceeding the past two years combined, comprising steel, building materials, foodstuffs and general goods.
