Egypt’s Trade Remedies Sector, part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, has extended its antidumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled, galvanized, and pre-painted steel from Turkey and China for an additional six months.
The probe, originally launched on October 31, 2024, followed a request by local producers Galvametal and Kama Metal, both subsidiaries of Kandil Steel, who allege that dumped imports are inflicting serious damage on Egypt’s steel industry.
The regulator noted that three other trade investigations are underway in parallel, including safeguard cases on cold-rolled, galvanized, and pre-painted steel from all countries, safeguard measures on hot-rolled flat steel imports and preventive measures on billet imports worldwide. It stressed that these proceedings are independent, and international law does not prevent multiple investigations from running concurrently, even if they involve similar products.
