Turkey’s scrap import prices held steady this week at USD 380 per ton CFR, as buying activity was minimal due to the Eid holidays in the first half of the week.
Turkish steel mills took a cautious approach, monitoring the potential impact of the U.S. decision to impose broad import tariffs, along with ongoing political uncertainty in the country. Weak demand for steel in both domestic and international markets also contributed to the muted scrap purchasing activity.
Despite these challenges, a sharp decline in scrap prices is considered unlikely, as higher collection costs and anticipated restocking by Turkish mills are expected to provide some near-term support.
Meanwhile, Turkish long steel export offers remained stable. Rebar export prices were unchanged at USD 575-580 per ton FOB, while wire rod offers held at USD 585-590 per ton FOB.
