Turkey’s imported scrap prices rose to USD 345-350 per ton CFR this week, up from USD 340-345 per ton last week, supported by higher freight and collection costs.
Scrap buying activity picked up as Turkish mills booked new cargoes, though sluggish finished steel demand in the domestic and overseas markets kept overall trade limited. Suppliers, however, held firm, citing rising collection costs, volatile exchange rates, and higher freight rates.
Higher scrap costs inched up Turkish long steel export offers, with rebar at USD 550-555 per ton FOB and wire rod at USD 565-570 per ton FOB.
