Turkey’s scrap import prices dropped this week to USD 355-360 per ton CFR, down from USD 365-370 per ton CFR last week. The decline is attributed to negative market sentiment caused by slow finished steel demand in the local market, driven in part by limited liquidity due to higher interest rates and cheaper billet import offers.
Turkish steel exporters are also facing weak demand in overseas markets, pressured by more competitive offers from other countries, particularly China, and regional conflicts affecting key export markets.
Turkish long steel export offers remain unchanged, though additional discounts are available, according to market sources. Rebar export offers are around USD 570-580 per ton FOB, while wire rod export prices range from USD 585-595 per ton FOB.
