Turkey’s imported scrap prices held largely stable this week, with assessments nudging up to around USD 355 per ton CFR from USD 350-355 per ton last week, supported by a pickup in domestic rebar demand that prompted mills to book limited cargoes.
While buying activity remained moderate, suppliers stayed firm on prices, citing higher freight costs and tighter winter scrap availability. Mills are also expected to continue purchasing for January shipments, as billet imports remain an unattractive option.
On the export side, Turkish finished steel sales stayed subdued amid weak global demand and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the EU’s CBAM implementation.
Rebar export offers were steady at USD 550-555 per ton FOB, while wire rod offers are in the range of USD 560-565 per ton FOB.
