Scrap import prices steady as steel demand slows

Scrap import prices remained stable this week, assessed at USD 345-350 per ton CFR. Sellers maintained firm pricing, citing reduced scrap collection during the winter season, while Turkish steel mills exercised caution in purchasing additional volumes due to sluggish steel sales in the domestic market.

Export sales of finished steel products also weakened, as year-end holidays curtailed overseas demand.

Export prices for long steel products held steady, with rebar offers at USD 570-580 per ton FOB and wire rod offers at USD 585-595 per ton FOB.
