Turkey imported 11.6 mln tons of scrap in the first seven months of 2024, a slight increase of 0.5pct compared to the same period last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The US was Turkey’s largest scrap supplier during this period, providing around 2.5 mln tons, a 6pct decline YoY. The Netherlands followed with 1.44 mln tons, up 13pct YoY, while the UK supplied 1.36 mln tons, marking a 54pct YoY surge.
In July 2024, Turkey imported about 1.6 mln tons of scrap, a 21pct increase month-on-month but a 15.4pct decrease YoY.
