Pakistan imported 323,896 tons of steel scrap in June 2026, up nearly 65pct from 196,424 tons in the corresponding month last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Steel scrap imports also increased 35pct compared with May 2026, reflecting stronger buying activity by domestic steelmakers.
Despite the sharp increase in June, Pakistan’s steel scrap imports during the first half of 2026 declined 4.76pct YoY to approximately 1.66 mln tons.
