Shagang, one of China’s largest private steelmakers, has ordered a second DMS 20Hi EcoMill cold rolling mill to support its production of non-grain-oriented (NGO) electrical steel.
The repeat investment reflects the continued growth of China’s electric vehicle (EV) market, as domestic manufacturers strive to strengthen their market position.
The new mill will have an annual capacity of 80,000 tons of high-grade NGO electrical steel. These advanced steel grades are primarily used in high-performance electric motors, which demand superior electrical steel characteristics. It will be capable of rolling strip down to 0.1 mm thickness across the full width of 1,350 mm, while ensuring excellent surface quality and flatness.
