Siam Yamato Steel Company Limited (SYS), based in Bangkok, Thailand, specializing in hot-rolled structural steel production, has partnered with SMS group’s Brazilian subsidiary, Vetta, to implement the Viridis Performance energy management solution at its facilities in Rayong province. This initiative aims to optimize energy use, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.
SYS operates two hot-rolled structural steel mills in Rayong province, with a combined annual production capacity of 1.1 mln tons. Viridis Performance, part of the Viridis Suite, will be deployed at SYS-MTP in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate. This technology utilizes advanced AI models to analyze real-time data, improving production processes and reducing energy consumption while maintaining production capacity.
The Viridis Performance system will provide real-time monitoring of critical energy consumption variables like electricity and natural gas. Custom-designed dashboards will display real-time data against targets, enabling prompt responses to deviations with tailored instructions for different production contexts.
SYS demonstrates its commitment to sustainability at its Map Ta Phut plant, where a 600,000-ton-per-annum Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operates using 100pct recycled steel materials. Advanced chemical composition control ensures high-quality semi-finished and finished products, including H-beam wide flanges, I-beams, channels, angles, cut beams, and sheet piles.
Viridis is part of SMS’s Solution X division, integrating Engineering & Automation (E/A), Service, and Digitalization to innovate and enhance efficiency in the steel industry. The Viridis solution supports clients in achieving maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness in steelmaking processes.
