Sovel, part of the Sidenor Group, has ordered a new 8-ton Danieli’s K-Spool line for installation at its Almyros micromill in Greece. This marks the first K-Spool of its kind in the Greek and Balkan region and the third 8-ton unit awarded to Danieli globally.
The new line will replace Sovel’s existing 3.5-ton spooler, allowing production of compact, twist-free rebars-in-coil up to 8 tons, with diameters ranging from 8 to 25 mm.
The supply package includes two spoolers, upstream equipment such as pinch rolls, loopers, laying devices, a new cropping shear, and a complete downstream coil handling system featuring Sund Birsta automatic strapping machines.
Integrated into Sovel’s recently upgraded MIDA endless casting and rolling mill, supported by Danieli’s Q-VID automation technology, the investment will enhance production efficiency, increase coil weight capacity, and lower handling and transformation costs.
