The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) has petitioned the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) to impose anti-dumping duties on low-priced imports from select countries, local media reported.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Limited, said the situation has become critical, with rising imports compounding challenges faced by the industry. The association has also called for an investigation into the dumping of sub-standard stainless steel products in the domestic market.
India imported 1.73 mln tons of stainless steel in FY25, with China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea being the main suppliers. The application, filed in late June, is now awaiting the start of the DGTR’s investigation.
