SteelAsia is achieving high efficiency and quality at its new high-speed rebar mill in Compostela, Cebu, Philippines, according to equipment supplier Danieli.
The mill has a production capacity of 800,000 tons per year, manufacturing low- and medium-carbon deformed bars ranging from 10 to 50 mm in diameter.
The rolling line includes 16 housing-less stands, two of which are convertible for larger sizes, along with two four-pass finishing blocks, designed to accommodate future expansion for 8-mm products. It enables two-strand rolling of 10-, 12-, and 16-mm bars.
Key features include Danieli’s QTB quenching and tempering system, a double high-speed twin channel, and a 90-meter cooling bed. Cold cutting, automatic bar counting, and bundle forming systems are tailored for the Philippine market, including sub-bundles under 50 kg.
The facility is operated using Danieli Automation’s L1+L2 process control systems.
