Egypt’s Suez Steel has started commercial production of high-specification rail profiles and heavy structural sections at its Rail and Heavy Section Mill, expanding its product portfolio for railway and infrastructure projects.
The company said it has commenced production of 54E1 and 60E1 rail profiles, designed for heavy-haul and passenger railway networks, as well as jumbo H-beams (36 x 16.5 inches), 250 x 35 mm equal angles, and 380 x 100 mm parallel flange channels (PFC).
Alongside the commercial start-up, Suez Steel obtained EN 13674-1 Rail Conformity Assessment Certificates, confirming compliance of its rail products with European railway standards. The company also secured integrated management system certifications covering quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management.
The development follows Suez Steel’s certification by TUV Rheinland in April for the production and marketing of railway rails, marking a key step toward commercial production of internationally compliant rail products.
The new production is expected to strengthen Suez Steel’s ability to supply rail and heavy structural steel products for infrastructure and construction projects in Egypt and export markets.
Suez Steel, part of the Solb Misr Group, operates an integrated steel complex in Egypt with production capacity exceeding 2 mln tons per year, producing rebar, billets and coils, alongside a dedicated rail and heavy sections mill.
