Tangsteel High Strength Automotive Strip Co., Ltd. has awarded a contract to international technology group Andritz to upgrade and modernize its No. 5 Continuous Galvanizing Line (TAN-CGL5) at the Tangshan facility in Hebei Province, China.
The upgrade, scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2025, will expand the line’s production range and enable processing of higher-grade steels for advanced automotive applications.
Originally commissioned in 2017, the No. 5 line is a core production asset for Tangsteel’s high-strength automotive steel. It was previously modernized by Andritz in 2021 to enhance heating and cooling performance, supporting output for high-end uses in both the automotive and home appliance sectors.
This latest modernization aims to increase Tangsteel’s production capacity, improve operational efficiency, and better serve rising demand for cold-rolled strip in both domestic and international markets.
Tangsteel’s product range includes cold-rolled thin-gauge steel, coated strip, electrical steel, and materials for automotive bodies and components. Its high-quality outputs are supplied to major global and Chinese carmakers, including BMW, Fiat, SAIC, Geely, and Great Wall.
