Tata Steel commissions ASU at Ludhiana EAF plant with INOX Air Products

India-based Tata Steel Limited has commissioned a 280 tons per day (TPD) cryogenic air separation unit (ASU) at its electric arc furnace (EAF)-based steel plant in Ludhiana, Punjab, in partnership with INOX Air Products Private Limited.

The facility will supply high-purity gaseous oxygen, nitrogen and argon, essential inputs for EAF steelmaking operations, ensuring uninterrupted on-site gas availability.

INOX Air Products said the project will also support expansion of its liquid gas distribution network across northern India, improving supply efficiency and reducing delivery lead times for industrial customers.

The commissioning strengthens gas supply infrastructure for steel production while supporting Tata Steel’s EAF-based manufacturing operations.

INOX Air Products is a major supplier of industrial, electronic and specialty gases in India, serving sectors including steel and manufacturing.

Tata Steel is among the world’s leading steel producers, with annual crude steel capacity of around 35 mln tons.
