Tata Steel reports growth in production and deliveries in FY25

Tata Steel’s consolidated steel production rose by 3.54pct YoY to 30.75 mln tons in FY25, according to the company’s filing with the stock exchange. Consolidated steel deliveries for the same period reached 30.86 mln tons, reflecting a 5.83pct YoY increase.

In India, Tata Steel’s crude steel production grew by 5pct YoY to 21.75 mln tons in FY25. This growth was driven by the commissioning of India’s largest blast furnace at the company’s Kalinganagar plant, as well as increased output from Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited. Deliveries in India rose in line with production, surpassing the previous record set in FY24. Domestic deliveries climbed 4.4pct YoY to 19.7 mln tons, supported by strong demand growth in the Indian steel market.

In the Netherlands, Tata Steel’s liquid steel production surged to 6.7 mln tons in FY25, up from 4.81 mln tons the previous year. Deliveries also increased to 6.2 mln tons from 5.33 mln tons in FY24. The YoY growth in both production and deliveries was attributed to the return to normal operations following the successful reline of Blast Furnace #6 in February 2024.

Tata Steel UK, however, saw a significant drop in liquid steel production, which fell to 1.07 mln tons in FY25 from 2.99 mln tons in the previous fiscal year. The decline was due to the closure of both blast furnaces at the UK plant at the end of Q2 FY25, as the company transitions to electric arc furnace (EAF)-based steelmaking. Currently, Tata Steel UK is fulfilling customer orders through downstream processing of purchased substrates. Deliveries declined to 2.51 mln tons from 2.8 mln tons in FY24, impacted by subdued demand conditions.

Tata Steel Thailand reported a 5.36pct increase in production, reaching 1.18 mln tons in FY25. Deliveries also grew by 6.25pct YoY, totaling 1.19 mln tons.

Tata Steel Group ranks among the world’s leading steel producers, with an annual crude steel capacity of 35 mln tons.
