Tenaris has invested USD 8 mln to upgrade safety and boost automation at its Sault Ste. Marie industrial center in Ontario, as part of a broader USD 72.5 mln modernization plan launched in 2024.
The investment includes new pipe storage racks designed to improve operator safety by widening walkways, providing more space to maneuver, and reducing risks associated with working at heights.
In February 2025, the company installed its first robot on the welded tubes line to automate pipe stenciling, improving marking clarity and simplifying product identification.
Three additional robots will be deployed later this year on the finishing line to automate coupling unloading and apply thread protectors, enhancing ergonomics and increasing overall efficiency.
