Tenaris starts production of high-strength steel pipe at Ontario plant

Tenaris has started domestic production of its proprietary TN 95EY steel grade at its Sault Ste. Marie Industrial Centre in Ontario, Canada, targeting the needs of energy operators working in increasingly demanding oil and gas environments.

The steel grade is designed for high-pressure and high-temperature applications, including sour service wells and unconventional oil and gas developments in the Montney and Duvernay formations in Western Canada.

The launch involved adapting existing manufacturing processes and implementing extensive testing and tracking procedures for each pipe. Teams across operations, metallurgy, information technology and laboratory testing collaborated to bring the grade into production while maintaining quality standards.

Tenaris said domestic production will strengthen its ability to respond to customer requirements while expanding its Canadian manufacturing capabilities.

Tenaris is a global manufacturer of seamless and welded steel pipe products for the energy industry. The company operates an integrated industrial network with manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, supplying OCTG, line pipe and premium tubular solutions to oil and gas producers worldwide.
