Thyssenkrupp Steel appoints Chief Sales Officer

Thyssenkrupp Steel’s Supervisory Board has appointed Georgios Giovanakis as a member of the Executive Board of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, effective June 1, 2026. He will assume responsibility for the newly established standalone sales division as Chief Sales Officer (CSO).

Under the new structure, the innovation and quality division will also fall under the CSO’s responsibilities, with the company aiming to consolidate customer-facing functions under a single executive mandate.

The company stated that the creation of a dedicated sales division is intended to strengthen its market-oriented management approach and enhance customer focus and competitiveness amid a volatile market environment.

Georgios Giovanakis has more than 25 years of management experience in the steel and materials sector. Between 2019 and 2025, he served as CEO of Thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel GmbH. Prior to that, he held several executive and board-level positions within the Thyssenkrupp Group in Germany and abroad, including CFO of Berco, CFO of Acciai Speciali Terni, CFO/CEO of Shanghai Krupp Stainless, and CFO/CEO of Terninox SpA.

He has been a member of the company’s extended Executive Board since January 1, 2026, overseeing sales operations under the CEO’s remit.

Thyssenkrupp Steel is Germany’s largest flat steel manufacturer, based in Duisburg. The company specializes in high-quality flat carbon steel and serves diverse global industries, including automotive, packaging, energy, and construction.
