Tosyali has commenced electricity generation from the first 25 MW phase of its 120.56 MW solar power plant (GES) project in Osmaniye, marking another step in the company’s renewable energy investment strategy.
The solar project is being developed across a 1,450-hectare site and is expected to reach its full installed capacity of 120.56 MW by the end of August. The initial phase covers approximately 32 hectares, with the project being implemented in collaboration with Inogen using equipment supplied by GE Vernova.
According to the company, the solar power plant utilizes high-output solar modules manufactured by Tosyali Energy, described as the highest-capacity solar panels produced in Turkey. The modules are integrated with single-axis solar tracking systems, which can increase electricity generation by approximately 20-40pct compared with conventional fixed-tilt installations under suitable operating conditions.
The investment forms part of Tosyali’s broader strategy to expand renewable energy use across its steelmaking operations, supporting lower-carbon steel production while improving energy efficiency and reducing reliance on conventional power sources.
Tosyali Holding operates nearly 40 facilities across Europe, Africa and Asia. In Turkey, key assets include the Iskenderun plant (4 mln tons per year) and Tosyali Metalurji in Osmaniye (2 mln tons per year). In Algeria, capacity stands at around 5 mln tons per year with plans to expand to 8.5-9.5 mln tons per year, while in Spain the company operates a 240,000 tons per annum spiral pipe plant.
