TotalEnergies and OQAE to build renewable energy projects for PDO

TotalEnergies, in partnership with OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), has signed agreements to develop 300 MW of renewable energy projects in Oman. The electricity generated will be supplied through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the country’s leading exploration and production company.

The two companies, holding 49pct and 51pct shares respectively, will jointly lead the development of three renewable energy projects. These include North Solar, a 100 MW facility in Saih Nihaydah in northern Oman, and two 100 MW wind projects, Riyah 1 and Riyah 2, located in the Amin and West Nimr fields in southern Oman.

Construction is set to begin in early 2025, with electricity production expected to start in late 2026. The projects are expected to generate over 1.4 TWh of renewable electricity annually, TotalEnergies stated.
