Vale’s iron ore pellet production in Oman declined by 0.9pct YoY in 2024, with output totaling 9.195 mln tons, down from 9.283 mln tons in 2023.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company produced 2.68 mln tons of iron ore pellets, marking a strong increase of over 15pct both YoY and quarter-on-quarter.
On a global scale, Vale’s total iron ore production reached 328 mln tons in 2024, the highest level since 2018 and a 2pct increase from the previous year. The company has set its iron ore production guidance for 2025 at 325-335 mln tons.
Located at Sohar Port and inaugurated with a USD 2 bln investment in 2011, Vale Oman’s pelletizing plant has the capacity to produce 9 mln tons per annum of direct reduction pellets. Additionally, Vale Oman operates a stockyard and distribution center with an annual throughput of 40 mln tons.
