Vallourec, Syngular Solutions partner on carbon capture projects in Brazil

French steel pipe producer Vallourec has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brazilian engineering and consulting company Syngular Solutions to collaborate on bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) and carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) projects in Brazil.

The partnership aims to support development of carbon capture and geological storage projects, particularly linked to Brazil’s ethanol industry, which is seen as offering significant decarbonization potential.

According to the companies, the cooperation will allow Vallourec to engage with project developers at an early stage and strengthen its positioning in the carbon capture and storage sector.

BECCS technology involves capturing CO2 generated from biomass-based energy systems and permanently storing it in geological formations such as depleted oil and gas reservoirs or saline aquifers, enabling net-negative carbon emissions.

Vallourec stated that the agreement forms part of its broader strategy to expand its presence in new energy and carbon management solutions. Vallourec is one of the world’s leading producers of premium seamless tubular solutions for the energy and industrial sectors.
