Vallourec has been selected by EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean, to supply approximately 3,000 tons of casing pipes and accessories for the first phase of the Prinos CO2 carbon storage project in Greece.
The offshore project will convert a depleted oil reservoir into a permanent CO2 storage site, with targeted injection capacity of up to 2.8 mln tons per year and total proved plus probable storage capacity of 51.5 mln tons, according to an independent report by Netherland, Sewell & Associates.
Vallourec will supply seamless carbon steel and corrosion-resistant alloy casing pipes equipped with VAM premium connections, as well as its CLEANWELL dope-free solution. The products are designed to provide long-term well integrity for permanent CO2 storage.
Prinos CO2 is recognized by the European Union as a Project of Common Interest and is supported by European and Greek funding programmes. The project is expected to support industrial decarbonization in Greece and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
The contract strengthens Vallourec’s position in the carbon capture and storage sector and provides a platform for participation in future phases of the Prinos project and other European CCS developments.
