Turkish billet producer Vertra Steel has begun operations at its new automated, environmentally friendly plant in the Ceyhan Organized Industrial Zone, Adana.
The facility, with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, is equipped with a DRI-fed electric arc furnace, ladle furnace, VD/VOD unit, and a continuous casting machine capable of producing both round and square billets. Supporting infrastructure includes a 1.8 mln m3 fume treatment plant, water treatment plant, oxygen plant, SVC, and switchyard, equipment supplier, Gemkom said.
Vertra Steel will produce square billets in 130, 150, and 200 mm sizes, and round billets in 200 and 220 mm diameters.
