VinMetal to build integrated steel complex for long and flat products

VinMetal, the steel manufacturing arm of Vietnam’s Vingroup, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Primetals Technologies for the development of an integrated steel complex in Ha Tinh, Vietnam.

The planned facility will produce both long and flat steel products through two separate production lines.

The long steel line will include a BOF-based meltshop, ladle furnace, vacuum treatment facility, billet caster, wire rod mill, and high-speed rebar mill. The flat steel line will consist of a second BOF meltshop, slab caster, and hot strip mill.

Under the agreement, Primetals Technologies will act as technology integrator and execute a pre-engineering package covering the complete equipment scope, enabling early civil works preparation and reducing project execution risks.

The two companies also plan to cooperate on digital transformation and workforce training as part of the project’s long-term development strategy.

Established in 2025, VinMetal focuses on producing high-quality steel and specialty alloys for the electric vehicle, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. The company is part of Vietnam’s Vingroup conglomerate, which also owns electric vehicle producer VinFast.
