The World Steel Association has welcomed several steel producers as new regular members, expanding its global membership base.
The new members include Icdas (Turkey), Almaadi Steel (Egypt), Dongkuk Steel (South Korea), Grupo AG (Guatemala), Hydnum Steel (Spain), Marcegaglia (UK) and Steel Dynamics (US). In addition, K1-MET (Austria) has joined as an affiliated member.
The association also announced that Dr. Henrik Adam will assume the role of Director General from mid-fourth quarter of 2026.
Dr. Adam currently serves as Executive Chairman of Tata Steel Netherlands and holds leadership positions in several European industry bodies. He brings over 25 years of experience across the steel and automotive sectors, including senior roles at Tata Steel Europe and Thyssenkrupp.
He will succeed Dr. Edwin Basson, who is set to retire after more than 15 years leading the association.
World Steel Association represents around 85pct of global steel production, comprising steel producers, industry associations and research institutes worldwide.
