Germany-based steel processor Wuppermann Group and Swedish green steel producer Stegra have signed a long-term tolling agreement under which Wuppermann will galvanize Stegra’s near-zero emission steel products to serve customers in the construction, steel processing and machinery sectors.
The collaboration will be carried out through Wuppermann Staal Nederland, with galvanizing services provided at the company’s strip galvanizing facility in the Netherlands.
The companies said the partnership combines Stegra’s low-emission steel production with Wuppermann’s galvanizing expertise to expand the availability of coated near-zero emission steel products across Europe.
Wuppermann added that its Dutch strip galvanizing plant uses its proprietary Heat-to-Coat process, which the company says delivers the lowest carbon footprint among strip galvanizing facilities in Europe. The partnership is expected to support customers seeking lower-carbon steel solutions and strengthen sustainable steel value chains.
Wuppermann Group is a Germany-based steel processing company specializing in hot-dip galvanizing and steel products. Founded in 1872, the company operates five production sites across Europe.
Stegra is developing an integrated near-zero emission steel plant in Boden, northern Sweden, based on hydrogen-powered direct reduced iron (DRI) and electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking.
