Zaporizhstal HRC shipments support integration of Metinvest’s Romania pipe plant

Ukrainian steel producer Zaporizhstal has shipped over 28,000 tons of HRC since the start of 2026 to Metinvest Tubular lasi, part of Metinvest Group, the company said.

The shipments come as the lasi pipe plant continues its integration into Metinvest’s production and management structure following its acquisition in December. Zaporizhstal currently supplies the full HRC requirements of the Romanian facility.

The material is used to produce round, profile and rectangular welded pipes meeting European standards, serving construction, energy and geothermal applications.

Zaporizhstal, a key Metinvest joint venture, remains one of Ukraine’s major steel producers.

Metinvest acquired the lasi plant from ArcelorMittal, with the facility having an annual capacity of up to 240,000 tons. It operates five pipe mills, two slitting lines and two coating lines, and is scheduled for full integration in 2026.

The group has previously indicated that the plant’s proximity to Ukraine could support annual HRC supply of up to 180,000 tons from Zaporizhstal, supporting stable operations and utilization of upstream production.
