ArcelorMittal to upgrade sinter plant dedusting system at Dabrowa Gornicza

ArcelorMittal Poland will invest nearly PLN 60 mln (USD 15.3 mln) to modernize the dedusting system at its sinter plant in Dabrowa Gornicza, with work scheduled to start this year and finish in Q1 2028.

The project aims to reduce dust emissions and improve working conditions. Following the upgrade, dust emissions are expected to fall below 5 mg/Nm3 in the sinter screening area and below 10 mg/Nm3 in the discharge section of the sinter strands and around dust and lime storage silos.

The existing electrostatic precipitator in the sinter screening area will be replaced with a new bag filter covering the entire building. The project also includes modernization of internal dedusting pipelines and installation of four compact bag filters for the dust and lime silos.

The investment will involve replacement of hundreds of meters of large-diameter piping and installation of new filtration equipment. ArcelorMittal Poland said the main bag filter will have an airflow capacity of around 400,000 m3/h.

The company is also modernizing sinter strands No. 1 and 3 under a nearly PLN 7 mln (USD 1.78 mln) project launched in January. The upgrade is intended to improve sintering efficiency, product quality and operational safety while reducing the risk of production disruptions.

ArcelorMittal Poland, a key subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Group, is the largest steel producer in Poland, accounting for around 50pct of the country’s steelmaking capacity and producing a wide range of semi-finished, long and flat steel products.
