Saudi Arabia’s Najd Steel Factory has obtained certification for square steel billets under the UAE’s Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS), opening the way for the company to supply the UAE market.
The ECAS approval covers B500B-grade billets conforming to BS 4449:2005+A3:2016. The certificate is valid from October 6, 2026, until October 5, 2029.
Separately, Najd Steel received CARES approval for digital product traceability of billets under the UAE’s Digital Product Passport requirements for construction steel products. This certificate was issued on September 11, 2026, and is valid until September 10, 2029.
The certification covers billets intended for further processing and provides Najd Steel with an opportunity to expand its presence in the UAE, where re-rollers source semis from domestic, regional and overseas suppliers.
Najd Steel joins other Saudi producers approved to supply billets to the UAE, including Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), Al Ittefaq Steel Products Company (ISPC), including its billet production unit NASCO, Solb Steel and Al Qaryan Steel.
Based in Riyadh’s Second Industrial City, Najd Steel began operations in 2011 and produces steel using induction furnace technology. The company can supply billets with cross-sections ranging from 100 mm to 130mm, with estimated production capacity of around 300,000 tons per year.
