South Korean special steel producer Seah Besteel is intensifying its global market expansion by developing specialized steel wire rod materials for the energy sector.
The company recently announced the successful development of steel wire rod products tailored for the oil and gas industry, a significant step beyond its previous offerings of round and square bars.
The new steel wire rod material stands out for its enhanced cleanliness, achieved through advanced deoxidation and desulfurization processes during refining. Optimized heating temperatures during rolling ensure uniformity, while its high resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking makes it durable in hydrogen-rich petroleum environments. This is especially important for the oil and gas sector, where materials must withstand high pressure and corrosive conditions.
Seah Besteel has already secured trial orders from global oil companies in January. A company representative highlighted the achievement, noting the collaborative effort within Seah Group, where Seah Besteel produced the material and Seah Changwon Special Steel processed the wire rod, leading to the successful order.
