Rodacciai has completed the upgrade of its rolling mill at the Sirone plant with AIC (Automazioni Industriali Capitanio), marking a key step in its modernization efforts. The project involved relocating and upgrading two DC drive cabinets to meet Performance Level D safety standards, enabling control of two new stands (H+V) for improved safety and efficiency.
AIC supplied the motor and AC drive for the upstream pinch roll, while Danieli provided the mechanical components. The upgrade also included access control equipment, local control stations, and an automation system based on AIC’s RACS cascade control, allowing the plant to roll larger billets than before.
Part of a broader modernization initiative that began five years ago, this latest upgrade was installed during the Christmas shutdown and successfully commissioned in early January.
