Baosteel has achieved key production and cost targets at its Fastarc Zerobucket electric arc furnace (EAF) in Shanghai, with monthly output exceeding 100,000 tons of liquid steel and operating cost reductions of around 200 yuan (USD 29) per ton.
The EAF, supplied by Danieli in 2023, has also reached production levels of up to 31 heats per day, marking a new 10-year high.
Following these results, Danieli recognised Baosteel for the performance of the meltshop and the successful achievement of the targets set in early 2026.
Production performance was progressively optimised using a flexible charge mix of scrap (60-100pct) and hot metal (0-40pct), contributing to improved energy efficiency and stable output.
During the stabilization phase, close coordination between Baosteel and Danieli teams enabled further optimisation of operational parameters, enhancing productivity and reducing energy consumption.
The project was implemented within an existing plant environment under tight timelines, requiring complex coordination across operations.
