BHP awards chute liners supply contract for iron ore operations in Pilbara

BHP has signed a three-year agreement with Metso for the supply of metallic chute liners to support its Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) operations in the Pilbara region.

Under the deal, Metso will provide a range of wear solutions, including its advanced XAlloy metallic liners and cast wear liners. XAlloy is engineered using high-alloy chromium carbide applied to a mild steel backing through advanced welding technology, offering superior durability and wear resistance.

BHP’s WAIO operations have a production capacity exceeding 290 mln tons annually. In the year ending June 30, the company produced 287 mln tons of iron ore and expects output of 282-294 mln tons for fiscal 2025.
