Turkey imported approximately 1.1 mln tons of billets between January and April 2025, reflecting an increase of nearly 9pct, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Malaysia emerged as the leading supplier during this period, delivering close to 365,000 tons. Russia followed with 207,000 tons, while China ranked third with 102,000 tons.
In April 2025 alone, billet imports totaled around 268,500 tons, down 2.7pct compared to the same month last year, but up more than 37pct from March 2025.
