Canada sets preliminary AD tariffs on Borcelik’s coated steel products

Turkey’s Borcelik, a leading flat steel producer, is facing provisional anti-dumping duties of 22.9pct on its corrosion-resistant steel exports to Canada, following a preliminary determination by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The CBSA stated that the duties will apply to goods released on or after April 17, 2025. The investigation, launched in December 2024, targets corrosion-resistant flat-rolled steel sheet products from Borcelik, including carbon and alloy steels with minor elements such as boron, niobium, titanium, or vanadium.

These products, imported in coils or cut lengths, feature thicknesses up to 4.267 mm and widths up to 1,828.8 mm, with or without surface treatments like passivation or anti-fingerprint coatings.

Borcelik, a joint venture between Borusan Holding and ArcelorMittal, is Turkey’s first private and second-largest flat steel producer, with an annual production capacity of 1.5 mln tons of cold-rolled and coated steel products.
