CIB aims to boost steel exports to Kosovo

Turkey’s Steel Exporters’ Association (CIB) recently organized a trade delegation to Kosovo to enhance trade relations between the two countries. The meetings brought together representatives from 28 Turkish companies, totaling 46 participants.

CIB Board Chairman Adnan Aslan noted that Turkey accounted for 40pct of Kosovo’s steel imports in 2024, with expectations for this share to rise to 60pct in 2025.

Aslan highlighted the role of trade delegations in boosting exports, stating that Turkey’s steel exports reached 17.7 mln tons in 2024, reflecting a 21.8pct increase in volume and an 8.6pct rise in value to USD 16.1 bln compared to 2023. He expressed confidence in further growth, projecting steel exports to reach USD 18 bln in 2025.

He also acknowledged challenges such as protectionist measures, quotas, and taxes but emphasized efforts to maintain and expand market presence. According to Aslan, Turkish steel exports typically see an uptick within five to six months following trade visits. He also stressed the importance of high-value-added products, noting that Turkish manufacturers are making significant investments in this area to strengthen exports.
