    Gerdau orders new stockyard machines for Acominas steel plant

    Beumer Group South America has secured two contracts from Gerdau S.A. to supply new stockyard equipment to the Gerdau Acominas steel plant in Ouro Branco, Brazil.

    The scope includes a bridge-type bucket wheel reclaimer with two bucket wheels and a 36-meter bridge conveyor, capable of handling 1,200 tons per hour. Additionally, a new stacker with a 30-meter boom (1,700 tph capacity) and a reclaimer with a 43-meter boom (975 tph capacity) will be delivered.

    The contract covers full turnkey services, including engineering, procurement, fabrication with inspection, delivery, and on-site support. These upgrades are part of efforts to modernize the 30-year-old plant’s stockyard and maintain efficient iron ore handling.

    Acominas is Gerdau’s flagship Brazilian facility, with an annual steel production capacity exceeding eight mln tons. Gerdau is among the largest long steel producers in the Americas and a global leader in recycling and special steels.
