Godo Steel has contracted Danieli to modernize its 87-year-old medium-sized bar mill at the Himeji Works in Japan’s Kansai region. The mill produces alloyed steel rounds, deformed rounds, and light rails.
The upgrade includes a new mill with two double-shiftable reverse stands, installed in a connected bay to roll blooms from the existing blooming mill while utilizing the current finishing lines. The modernization aims to enhance product quality through increased stand rigidity and boost productivity by cutting roll change times, improving both competitiveness and operational safety.
The upgraded facility will also improve handling of small production lots. Danieli will supply all key equipment, electricals, and automation systems from its Asian manufacturing hubs, with the project managed by Danieli Japan. Commissioning is planned for the second half of 2028.
