Huzhou Jiuli Yongxing orders new high-capacity forging press

Huzhou Jiuli Yongxing High Performance Metals Co., Ltd., a joint venture of Jiuli Hi-Tech, has ordered a 63/71 MN two-column push-down open-die forging press from SMS group. The press will be installed in a newly built facility at the company’s Huzhou City site, supporting Jiuli Yongxing’s strategy to expand production and strengthen its position in high-performance metal markets.

Jiuli Yongxing specializes in corrosion-resistant alloys, high-temperature alloys, and specialty stainless steels, serving sectors such as aerospace, chemical, energy, oil and gas, and medical. The new forging press will enhance its ability to process high-alloy austenitic steels and nickel-based alloys, with capacity to forge products, round bars, plates, and tubes, up to 23 tons in weight and 15 meters in length.

The fully automated press features SMS’s Forgebase Technology Suite, which includes a materials database and pre-calculated pass schedules for precise process control. Operating at up to 450 bar, the press offers upsetting and forging forces of 71 and 63 MN, respectively, with a forging accuracy of +/- 1 mm. It can reach up to 122 strokes per minute, delivering high productivity.

The open-die forging process improves material performance through grain refinement, especially effective in the upsetting stage for cast ingots. Pre-formed ingots will be further processed on Jiuli Yongxing’s existing SMX 900 / 18 MN radial forging machine, creating a fully integrated forging line.

The new press incorporates SMS’s advanced three-point X-guiding technology, which ensures precise alignment and uniform pressure distribution, enhancing forging quality and efficiency in line with Jiuli’s growth objectives.
