Interpipe supplies OCTG for South Akcakoca Sub-Basin gas development project

Ukrainian steel pipe producer Interpipe has successfully delivered OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) to a Turkish company for the South Akcakoca Sub-Basin (SASB) Gas Field Development Project, located offshore in the Black Sea.

The SASB is one of Turkey’s first and largest shallow-water gas development projects. It is jointly owned by Trillion Energy (49pct) and Turkish National Petroleum (51pct) and involves the development of multiple shallow-water gas reservoirs, requiring complex offshore pipe installations under demanding conditions.

Artem Artemov, Interpipe’s Pipe Sales Director for the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, noted that Turkey is rapidly expanding its offshore gas production in the Black Sea. “Each project presents unique engineering and logistical challenges. Despite tight deadlines and harsh operating conditions, our team ensured a smooth and timely delivery. The pipe columns have been successfully installed and are operating at full capacity,” he said.

Given the subsea nature of the gas reservoirs, high gas-tight integrity of the tubing strings was critical. To meet these requirements, Interpipe supplied premium-grade tubing featuring its proprietary UPJ-M gas-tight threaded and coupled connections, specifically designed for demanding geological environments.

Interpipe is a global producer of steel pipes and railway products, with a presence in over 50 countries through its extensive sales network across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. In 2024, the company delivered 511,000 tons of pipes and 115,000 tons of railway products, marketed under the KLW brand.
