Chinas iron ore imports reached a record high in 2024 for the second consecutive year, according to customs data.
The country imported approximately 1.24 bln tons last year, marking a 4.9pct increase from the 1.18 bln tons in 2023, as reported by the General Administration of Customs.
In December 2024, China brought in 112.49 mln tons of iron ore, a 10.4pct rise from the 101.86 mln tons in November. Iron ore imports in December 2024 also showed a slight YoY increase, up from 100.86 mln tons in December 2023.
