ISPA, Uzbekistan Metallurgy Association sign MoU to boost steel collaboration

The Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) and the Uzbekistan Metallurgy Association have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the iron and steel sector.

The agreement covers raw material and product supply, joint industrial projects, technical training through the Iranian Steel Academy, and collaboration on energy efficiency and decarbonization. It also includes provisions for joint events, market studies, logistics cooperation, and expanding positions in regional and global markets.

At the signing, Bahram Sobhani, chairman of ISPA, said Iranian steelmakers are ready to meet industrial and mining needs in Uzbekistan.

Gulbahor Tojimirzayeva, head of the Uzbek association, highlighted the country’s fast-developing steel sector and called for Iranian expertise. She noted Uzbek firms plan to purchase 300,000 tons of Iranian steel this year and may host Iranian-built steel plants.
