India’s Jindal Saw Ltd is exploring plans to establish a steel pipe manufacturing facility in Algeria, according to the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI).
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between AAPI Director General Omar Rekkache and a delegation from Jindal Saw led by Chairman Prithvi Raj Jindal. The meeting was also attended by India’s Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni.
During the discussions, Jindal Saw presented a proposal to develop an industrial complex for the production of steel pipes in various diameters and specifications. The project is intended to serve domestic demand while strengthening Algeria’s downstream manufacturing capabilities in the energy, water and infrastructure sectors.
AAPI said the discussions also covered Algeria’s investment framework, project implementation procedures and incentives available to foreign investors.
Headquartered in New Delhi, Jindal SAW operates manufacturing facilities across India, the US, Europe, and the UAE, producing SAW and spiral pipes for energy transport, seamless and alloy pipes for industrial applications, and ductile iron pipes for water and wastewater projects. The company also runs a low-grade iron ore mine and beneficiation plant in Rajasthan, India.
