India’s largest stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless, in collaboration with clean energy provider AB Energia Solutions Pvt. Ltd., has successfully installed and commissioned a 30.34 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power project at its manufacturing facility in Jajpur, Odisha. This marks the largest captive solar installation within a single industrial campus in the state.
The project features a 7.324 MWp floating solar system, ingeniously deployed on an internal reservoir, and a 23.02 MWp rooftop solar array spread across 10 industrial rooftops at varying elevations. Together, these systems are expected to generate 44.3 mln units of green electricity annually, enough to power 12,000 to 15,000 households, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 32,208 tons each year.
As India’s largest stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless is expanding its annual melt capacity to 4.2 mln tons by FY27. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India, Spain, and Indonesia, along with a global network spanning 12 countries. Its product portfolio includes slabs, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
